A Hundred Words

A Hundred Words

It Must Be

you Said To me.
What to Pull From my Head

to Fill This Thread.
Since Word Count

Is Pressed Upon Thee,
Thy Enemy.
Let’s See

What Will Flee

From This Starving Mind.
Story Time
& I Can Not Find

a Thing to Fill This Blank Page.
I Try to Rhyme

Making It Harder Still.
Hoping the Flow

Will Help me To the Goal,
Still my Skill Falters
& a Hundred Words

Looms Like a Prison Gate.
I Roll my Shoulders,

Crack my Neck & Smile.
Glad to See

I Still Got What It Takes.

What Had
Happened To me

I Had Never Been to a Séance Before.
Strange Things

Were Going On In This House.
I Had to Admit

If Any Place Had a Right to Be Haunted
It Was This One.
They Said the Foundations Were Pre Roman,
Old as the Stones,
the Story Goes.
Dreams of the Screams,
Those That Died Here by Flame, Plague, & Torture;
Haunt my Sleep.
The Dark Man,
All Ways In the Back;
All Ways.
Like Puppets In a Play
& He Holding the Strings.
They Started to Weave
These Dreams

Into my Waking World.
I Had to Get Some Sleep,
Some Release.
So I Took It Up With the Proprietor,
the Count;
a Family Friend.
His Haunted Hollow Eyes
Saying Much More to me
Than we Shall See
What This Meet Brings.
It Was I,
the Count & Two Gentlemen.
One a Learned Doctor of Court,
No Stranger to the Bizarre,
The Other a Professor of History
& the Occult Sciences;
He Would Be Leading Us
Through This Strange Ceremony.
No Sooner Had we Began our Introductions
Over Brandy & Cigars,
Then a Manifestation Became Evident.
A Globe of Brilliant Light
to Turn the Night to Day
& Say your Payment Is Due,
Entered the Room.
The Count Pointed to me
& Said you May Have Him.
For 13 Months
I Know Not What I Do,
Till They Pulled me From the River;
Ran Through.
6 Months In a Hospital Half the World a Way,
Tomorrow Is the Day;
the Count Explains.

More

Wracked

by a Million

Battles;
my Flesh

an Old Sole.
Still I Go,

Searching,

Searching,
For a Mystery

to UnFold.

It Has Lead me

To your Door;
What Pray Tell

Will This Story Hold.
Another Contest of Wills,
So you May Test

the Iron of my Spine.
Ever

It Has Driven me Forth,

Searching,
Searching

For More.

What Should I Compose

a Story About;

a Loner,

a Woman,

Child,

Dog…

How About a Goat,

See; There was a Goat

Walking Down the Street.
Yeah, a Goat

& It Came Up To me

& Asked For a Smoke.
So, I Put One In Its Mouth

& Lit It.
Cause, you Know

Goats

Don’t Have Hands.
Well, If It Did;

That Would be Some Kind

of Freak.
It Stood There Puffing

a Way

& I Must Say

the Most Disconcerting Thing

About the Whole Fray

was Its

Eyes.
I Don’t Know

If you Have Ever Had

a Huge Black Goat

With a Devil’s Pentagram

Branded In Its Fore Head;

Stare At you

With Those Black;

Soul Less

In Humane

Eyes.
Well; If you Have,

Then you Have

a Notion

Of a Very

Startlingly

Occurrence.
